Our dedicated team of scientists will carry out the TRANSIL Intestinal Absorption Assay in our labs using your drug candidates or other test substances to assess their ability to cross the intestinal epithelium membrane. Since most drugs passively enter the bloodstream through the small intestine’s epithelium, uptake/absorption of a drug by this tissue critically affects its bioavailability and peak bloodstream concentrations.
The assay evaluates the membrane affinity of a drug candidate, which is directly related to permeation, and thereby assesses its ability to cross the intestinal epithelium, providing a measurement of the intestinal absorption of a drug. In conjuction with our solubility assay it is possible to predict the percentage of an oral dose absorbed via the intestine.
